Description: This layer was created primarily from the PLSS_Section_Lines layer. Where civil (political) township lines are known to deviate from PLSS township lines, the civil township borders were copied from the Minor_Civil_Divisions_IN layer created by the Indiana Geological Survey (MINOR_CIVIL_DIVISIONS_IN: Minor Civil Divisions for Indiana in 2000 (United States Census Bureau, 1:500,000, Polygon Shapefile), digital representation by Chris Dintaman, 2003.) The Monroe County Surveyor's Office is seeking legal descriptions for the policital townships in order to increase the spatial accuracy of this layer.
