Description: This layer was created to display the PLSS Section Lines in Monroe County, Indiana. This layer is controlled by a topology with the PLSS_Monument_Records point layer. The majority of the points in the Monument Records layer were copied from a previous layer of unknown origin that was also maintained by the Office of the Monroe County Surveyor. We believe that the points were created at the endpoints of the section line layer, which was created from digitized USGS quad maps. The points (and by definition, the lines) have been adjusted where survey grade coordinate data is available, and will continue to be refined as more coordinates are collected.
